Reflections on the Construction of DNA Molecule

IDSC 201/HONORS SECTION
DR. BLANCHARD
TAKE HOME EXAM #1 (DNA MOLECULE)

TASK:
We just spent the first couple of weeks of this class constructing and dialoguing about the DNA molecule.  In my mind, the elucidation of the structure of DNA by Watson and Crick in 1953 was the most significant scientific discovery in the history of humankind.  I remain awed by the elegant complexity and, at the same time, the exquisite simplicity of the molecule.  I continue to attempt to fathom the real implications of this amazing chemical entity.  I want you to think about it also.

For your first gradable exercise, you are to express your thoughts and emotions about the DNA molecule.  I want your expression to be in the context of your chosen discipline or interests.  I do not want a boring "scientific" paper or project from you.  Feel free to let your creativity and intellect soar.  Produce the unexpected, the provocative, the unique - think deeply and show me what kind of a brain and heart you have.  Naturally, written material must be organized and expressed properly.  I want a bibliography of outside sources you employ.  But most of all, I want you to put your guts into this assignment. GOOD LUCK!
