Betsy Dobbins
Dr.
Betsy Dobbins is an assistant professor in the Department
of Biology at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She earned
her B.A. at Auburn University and her M.S. and Ph.D. at the University
of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Dobbins
believes in innovative approaches to learning; therefore, she has initiated
service or problem-based learning in her contemporary biology classes.
Her students communicate principles of ecology by teaching hands-on
science to disadvantaged 5th grade students at an inner-city school.
