Field trips are an important part of the ecology section of the course. We will be visiting ponds, streams, and woods in the area. The instructor will tell you how to identify and avoid poison ivy, snakes, bees, ants, ticks, or other hazards. Appropriate dress (long pants, long sleeves) and shoes are required for participation in field trips. Designated drivers will be used for transportation to study sites (usually no more than 2-5 miles each way). A release form will be provided for you to sign. The drivers will be reimbursed $0.30 per mile and must have proof of insurance for their automobiles. All larger organisms collected will be photographed and returned to the site of origin.
The new Sciencenter was designed to be handicap accessible, and those with unique physical or learning needs will be accommodated.
