Louise C. Wooster, 1842-1913. Famous Birmingham madam whose nurture of the sick and dying during the cholera epidemic of 1873 endeared her to the Birmingham community. One legend holds she is the prototype of the character Belle Watling in Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind."
